After leaving Coober Pedy we continued south towards Whyalla & the Eyre Peninsula. We stayed a night at Lake Hart and the next at Nutbush Retreat which is a working sheep station. We got in around mid morning and by the late afternoon another 5-6 campers had also rolled in. We had a meal at the shearing shed that night, it was nothing fancy but no complaints and it gave everyone the night off.
Not far driven the next day, around 45k and we arrived at Cowell and staying in the RV Park which is excellent, $10 per van with water provided and a central camp fire pit area.
A drive around checking out the fantastic jetty and new marina that’s been built, one thing we love about SA is all the well maintained jetties most of the coastal towns have. It certainly puts WA to shame in that regard.
Another big drive today, around 20klms to Port Gibbon.
Train line beside Lake Hart
Lake Hart is similar to a mini Lake Eyre being a salt lake
Our night at Nutbush Retreat, we have been past many times but this is the 1st time
We have stopped, very well maintained and a range of accomodation & meals
ANDURRA is a working sheep station
Cowell’s new Marina .. $16 million were told, puts our local Rockingham Council
to shame with the well maintained jetties and boating facilities.
Cowell Jetty
Painted Silos are awesome, this is the one at Cowell SA
