Darwin - 21/08/22

Whilst we have a reliable phone signal I’ll put up a few more photos of our trip. Currently in Jabiru Kakadu and prior to here we stayed at Tumbling Waters Van Park for 6 days and used it as a base to do some drives into Litchfield Nat Park & Darwin Our visit to the Aeronautical museum was very interesting, seeing a Boeing B52 inside the building with planes like the F111 and Sabre, Tiger Moth, etc etc all next to it or underneath really struck home just how huge they are. We all thought it was well worth a visit. Our drives into Litchfield were long days and the smaller swimming holes and streams were more enjoyable than the crowded more well known places like Wangi Wangi & Florence falls. Berry Springs wasn’t far away from our van park and as good a place as any. On Friday we all did a tour on the Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise, we chose this mob as they have single level boats and less tourists. It was very reasonable in price also at $40pp. The guys doing the tour were very knowledgeable and everyone got a good look at some Saltwater Crocs, the biggest around 4.5-5mt was called Stumpy, he only had one leg left apparently but was still the Boss croc of his area in the river.
Our last night at Tumbling Waters we had dinner at the parks restaurant, not a huge choice of meals but it was good and certainly popular. Now based at a van park in Jabiru for two nights for a look around, a stop along the way and a short walk to a Wetland for a look was also worth checking out, later this arvo we drive out to Cahills Crossing, it’s a popular place to see a lot of crocs with a few human fatalities over the years, none of us will be getting to close to the waters edge. After here we move on down to do a cruise at Yellow Waters. And for us that will be Kakadu done .. we start to slowly move south and can expect the temperature to start to drop, especially at night.
